Training classes and topics:

Violent Extremist Overview

8 hour/4 hour class

In this class students will be introduced to the major violent extremist ideologies and groups that advocate those ideologies. Students will learn to identify individuals who are affiliated with these groups, how they communicate and interact, and what are the objectives of these groups. Topics covered will include hard left groups, hard right groups and groups that cover the entire political spectrum or operate outside the political spectrum. 4 hour class is a brief overview of the violent extremist landscape touching on the subjects listed above.

Hard Right Violent Extremist Overview

This class is an in-depth survey of the “political right” of the violent extremist landscape. In this class students will learn to identify hard right extremist groups and individuals who affiliate with these groups. The class will also cover types of activities these groups and individuals engage in and best practices for identifying groups and individuals before they move to violence. Students will also be introduced to the language and symbology used by these groups as well as the ideologies they espouse.

Hard Left Violent Extremist Overview

This class is an in-depth survey of the “political left” of the violent extremist landscape. In this class students will learn to identify hard left extremist groups and individuals who affiliate with these groups. The class will also cover types of activities these groups and individuals engage in and best practices for identifying groups and individuals before they move to violence. Students will also be introduced to the language and symbology used by these groups as well as the ideologies they espouse.

“Full Spectrum” Violent Extremist Overview

This class is an in-depth survey of the politically diverse groups of the violent extremist landscape. In this class students will learn to identify extremist groups and individuals who affiliate with these groups. The class will also cover types of activities these groups and individuals engage in and best practices for identifying groups and individuals before they move to violence. Students will also be introduced to the language and symbology used by these groups as well as the ideologies they espouse. Movements including the Sovereign Citizen, Accelerationist, Boogaloo, Incel, and Abortion (Anti and Pro).

Jail/Institutional Radicalization

Students will learn to identify signs of radicalization in a jail, prison or institutional setting. Including language and symbols used by violent extremist groups, means of communication, and contacts on the “outside”. Students will also be offered possible strategies to mitigate radicalization in an institutional setting.

Community Supervision of Violent Extremist Affiliated Individuals

Students will learn to identify individuals on community supervision who are or potentially are involved in a violent extremist movement. Language, symbols and identifiers will be covered as will various ideologies the populate the violent extremist landscape. Students will be provided supervision strategies for violent extremist involved individuals. Additionally resources for de-radicalization will be provided and de-radicalization case planning will covered.
